helpful literary / historical contexts, especially around the psuedo-psychology of hysteria and gesture and modernist emotive and gestural dancers like isadora duncan & especially loie fuller (who i really want to explore now!). sloppy and vague psychoanalytical remarks. very striking reproductions and good survey of different styles - turned me on to his landscapes and flower paintings along with the pervy weird nudes and self-portraits. dude died at 28! makes me feel like a slacker profoundly. also, think he was into tucking his tie into his belt - sign of a pervert-savant i ever saw one.
