This book was a great sports fiction! The main character, Eddie is the quarterback on his football team. He struggles to make his team happy because they often disagree with the decisions he makes when calling plays. In addition to the conflicts on the football field Eddie is having problems at home with his parents. It was exciting to see how the story unrolled. All in all, this was great book and a quick read.

I liked this book. It wasn't as good as some I have read, but still good. I figured I would like it because it has a little to do with football.

Characters
Eddie Paulsen - main character, football player for the Jets
Bobby -Eddie's best friend
Jackie - Bobby's sister, Eddie likes her
Mikey, Kenny, Marty and Sean - football players who also play for the Jets
Kirby - loud mouth leader of the Giants football team

Eddie is a sixth grader in the story. He and some friends make up a football team they call the Jets. Every weekend they play another team called the Giants. Every time they play, the Jets lose. Eddie is tired of losing. He tells two of the kids on the team they need to think more about football and less about other things. Those two players quit the team. Eddie finds a couple of other kids to play for the Jets. There are other things Eddie is dealing with. His dad decides to leave. He has moved out of their house. When this happens, Eddie is the one who has a hard time focusing on the football games. He starts to understand how other things can be more important. When he stops focusing on the game, the Jets finally win. Eddie ends up liking Jackie. She is the sister of his best friend, Bobby. Bobby doesn't really like that he likes her.

The setting of the story is a small town neighborhood which is never really named. You get the feeling of the small town when the football teams play every weekend in their neighborhood. It helps to make Eddie's problems seem like they are big in comparison.

Theme:
I think the theme of the book would be to keep on trying. No matter how many times you get knocked down, you should keep on trying. Eddie kept losing in his football games. He kept on trying and finally did win. I think a theme could also be to control things you can control and let others be. When Eddie felt his home life was falling apart, he was finally able to win a football game. It seemed like when he stopped obsessing about football, he played the game better. Everyone can relate to things happening in their life that are out of their control.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes football. I think boys would probably like it more than girls would. I think I would recommend it to kids 12 and older. There are some issues younger readers would not really understand or relate to.

My book is Eddie and the Jets, and the author is John Attanas. Eddie (the main character) is trying to beat a team they've never beat in football. Eddie is in 6th grade and his best friend is Bobby. Eddie and Bobby play 4 on 4 football against Kirby’s team “a team they face every Friday”. Eddie’s dad leaves the house and has both Eddie and his mom filled with emotions. Eddie loves watching the Jets play football every week. Eddie’s team has never won a single game against Kirby, and they've been getting closer and closer every single game. Eddie meets Bobby’s sister (Jacky), and Eddie likes her. Bobby later finds Eddie and Jacky kissing and Bobby goes crazy and kicks Eddie out of his house. His dad is not living with him, and his best friend hates him. Eddie thinks his life is in shambles. Eddie and his mom start fighting and Eddie decides to run to the shop where his dad spends a lot of his time. Eddie's dad tells Eddie that he’s just taking a break and then drives him home “everyone needs a break”. Eddie’s dad decides to stay back at home. Eddie goes to school and tells Bobby that he likes Jacky and nothing will change that, but he still wants to be friends with Bobby and beat Kirby. Bobby says he overreacted and is now friends with Eddie again. They go against Kirby’s team and almost beat them. Kirby tells them that they are actually really good and we could beat them next time. I would rate this book a 9/10. The book isn’t too hard but it’s not really easy. I definitely think it could be believable ,and in my opinion the ending actually surprised me that they didn’t beat Kirby’s team. I believe people could connect to different characters and parts in this book a lot. The author’s style of writing was simple but also kept me engaged while reading.

It was a shorter read and I really liked it. Eddie had lots of hard things going on in his life but he along with his friends try to pull the team together. Really good if you want a quick uplifting read.

Summary
This book Eddie and Jets written by John Attans is a story about a young 12 year old boy named Eddie who was in a football team called Jets which plays local tournaments. He was in his team with his best friend Bobby and his superiors Kenny and Mikey. The Jets team keeps on loosing football matches against their rival team called Giants. After losing streak for many years Eddie the captain of team decides to make a change. According to change he removed Kenny and Mikey from the team and replaced his new friends Marty and Sean.
There is not just a problem of football and his lack of practice. His dad was once divorced from mom because of his serious emergency. Then one day Bobby got angry at Eddie and broke from Eddie and Marty and Sean also broke up because he wasted time and was being very selfish. One day Eddie got very angry to see such things and his dad was divorced so he ran very fats to his Dad’s shop and created a tantrum for his Dad to come back. After a while his mom and dad cooled him down and his dad came back to stay at home. Then next day Bobby said sorry to Eddie and got back Kenny and Mikey in team. Then they practiced very hard. The next day they had a match with Giants and finally the Jets won and it was time to celebrate. The Jets won after a very long time.
Opinion
According to my opinion I love this Book because it taught me about football rules team work and it is fantasy book. The book told me about the team facing situations for a long time I love stories which have situations and problems in middle and happy ending. The story also has the happy ending when there team won the match and it made the story very impressing and also it told us about Sports.
Recommendation:
This book from fantasy Genre is very interesting that I would recommend others to read this book because it told us about sports it was interesting when there was a huge problem and a very smart solution. This also told us about sports which many people will be interested about this also told about sporty story where many people will love this book. So I recommend others to read this book.

Predict- Before I read Eddie and the Jets, I predicted Eddie would try to get out of this mom and dad’s divorce, and just play the game he loved more than anything else - football. He had a difficult time focusing on the sport because of his parents’ actions. For example, “What do you mean a new life?” my mother asked. “Just what it sounds like,” my father replied (pgs. 44-45).

Connection- I connected with this story because I love the game of football, like Eddie and his friends. Things I have in common with Eddies is that we both love to practice, both wake up wanting to be the best person we can be, and we both like to play with friends and get games going on a football field. We both love football and want to play as much as we can.

Visualize- During the championship game, I created a mental image of a real football game. I could picture Eddie throwing a touchdown pass to his friend. This has happened to me too so I could relate to that. I could see the football flying in the air, hear people cheering, and the rush of blood when his buddy got into the end zone.

Make Inferences - Throughout the story, I kept thinking and wondering if Eddie would overcome his parents’ divorce. It really affected him during his football season. It bothered him so much he couldn’t hardly throw a pass to his buddies. But, I kept thinking he “would” overcome the divorce and play better by the end of the story. He did overcome it because he won a very important game at the end of story.

Monitor - I had to stop and think about a few parts during the story because he was happy and then mad at times. His moods changed frequently. Those were times I went back and re-read or tried to create a picture in my mind, or make a connection. “what do u want to talk about Eddie”? nothing i have not been feeling well. pg.63

The title of my book is Eddie and the Jets. The author is John Attanas. John Attanas has gotten a lot of achievements when it comes to being a author. John Attanas was born, raised, and still lives in New York City. This book was published in 2005. The main person in the story is a kid that loves football but not just any football. New York Jets football. Eddie and his friends start street football. Eddie wonders if he's got the guys on the team. Eddie's best friend Bobby is as determined as Eddie, but the other guys would rather hang out with girls or sit in front of a computer than practice. What's a captain to do? Eddie wishes he could talk to his dad about it, but in the middle of his football mess, Eddie's dad walks out and leaves his family. Bobby understands his dad left a log time ago and the anger is still with him, As Eddie spends more time with Bobby, he gets to know Jackie, Bobby's twin sister. Suddenly football isn't the only love in his life. Life gets really complicated when Bobby catches Eddie kissing Jackie and Quits the team. Now Eddie has no team, no best friend, no girlfriend, and no dad. Can things get any worse?

Eddie and his three friends formed a football team they named the Jets. They play, and lose, to Kirby's team (the Giants) every weekend. Eddie is tired of losing and kicks two of the guys off the team. Meanwhile, his dad walks out on the family and Eddie decides he likes his best friend's sister. Nothing works out the way Eddie plans.

The football action is well-described, but the plot is pretty thin and all is resolved a bit too quickly. Good for football fans.

I thought the book was great Eddie had really good friends he played football. His goal was to beat Kirby carpenter, but his love life got in the way and he kissed his best friends sister in his own house. Bobby went on a rampage and the team dispanded. Then Eddie got three out of four members back, so they went to Bobbys house and started playing football until he came out to play with them and played Kirby one last time and lost.

This book is about Football with a morale of sticking together and fighting through things as a family. Eddies parents are getting divorced and he really doesn't want them to. Eddie has a big football game every week with his team the jets. Then he starts having an interest in his best friends sister and it ruins him and his friends relationship and he has to apologize and start over as friends. This book doesn't have any slow parts and is interesting.

John Attanas's debut is simply amazing and captures all the emotions of an 11 year-old boy struggling with his first crush and his parents' divorce. One of the BEST books I've ever read! Almost as good as Harry Potter!

This is a really great book for boys, especially for those who are reluctant readers. This has everything that boys deal with: sports, first love, and family conflict. I recommend this to any parent with a middle-grade son--it's well worth it.

Eddie loves football. All he thinks about is his losing streak in his weekly football game against the team led by his class rival. Maybe what he needs is a new team. Then his dad walks out on Eddie and his mother and everything changes. Is football really that important?

That this boy named eddie played for the jets football in middle school and he was the quarterback and and he was he best one in the state because he had like 25 yards each game. But he had got injured and so he couldn't play a whole season, so the assistant quarderderback was trash and all they had is eddie's best friend and he was a running back and he was ranked #3 in highschool for running backs and so he made a couple touchdowns each game, he made like 5 each game and he was good. So they went to state and eddie was like already to play and so he went out there and he play for the 2 first quarters and so he tried to throw it to number 30 on his team and he got sacked really heard ny 2 people and like a guy laid on his ankle and it broke his ankle because it was twisted when he laid on it and so next year he made a recovery and he made people score at least like 2 touchdowns and so they won state that year.

So eddie get an injury and what he does to come back is he works on his legs and how it can get hield and so he gets therapy for bis injury and so he plays in the next few months and so he makes a recovery because he worked on that leg that he broke and so he gets in the game and he made people scored like 2 touchdowns and he was better than he was last time and so he was very happy that his ankle was good for him to play to got to state and he made it to state and he has won the state champion and the coaches were happy to him.

I didn't like it because it was confusing to read and i didnt know what was going on and all i know is that eddie had a bad injury and so he had a recovery and he came back and he went to collage and so he became a pro at football and his friends liked him
