I prefer white guys. I am a card carrying member of the Interracial Couple Club (Platinum, actually). So when I was given a copy of this book to read, I could tell by the cover that this story was going to be about an interracial couple.

LOVIN’ LEELA is 55 pages of utter goodness.

I am totally amazed at how Ms. Gregory can pack a story in such a short amount of pages. These are the kind of stories that I hope to write. Short and sweet, beginning, middle, end. I have a feeling that the majority of my stories are going to be multicultural.

I do not miss the days of apartment living, where the walls might as well be curtains separating you from your neighbor. Hearing your neighbor having sex when you aren’t getting any yourself is a major downer. But it’s not just the sex. Leela’s Hottie on a Stick neighbor also plays a saxophone at odd hours of the night.

I’m sorry, hello, saxophone? Son of a preacher man, how sexy is that? And if the person on the other end of that instrument looked like Sam, I would just take off my panties right then and there and say “Have at it, dude. I came over here to bitch about the noise, but…whatev. Have at it.”

The chemistry between Sam and “Lee-Lee” was H-A-W-T and was made even more so by Sam’s occupation as a boudoir photographer. I’m tingling again just by typing that: boudoir photographer. Whether he’s photographing women or couples, Sam knows his way around a body and you know that has to translate into his personal life. The love scenes were the kind that made me stare off into space and visualize the encounter and that’s always a good thing in my book. In Sam’s line of work, he wasn’t exactly a monk, which made Leela a little apprehensive about deepening the relationship. But they were able to work it out in the end.

I so loved this book and am looking foward to reading more of Ms. Gregory’s books. And gleaning some pointers in the process.

A good read.

I would never understand why some women tend to get upset because of a previous relationship before she ever entered a man life. But in a sense I kind of understood where Leela was coming from. Why did Sam still have the portraits in the first place? But whatever! Wonderful chemistry and character development, I only wish it wasn't short.
