Laidenn The Dark Elf
A young reader's book about vampires, zombies, dark magic and a Santa Claus that can kick butt!Vampires are the most disgusting creatures that walk the outskirts of the North Pole. One day, vampire snowmen attacked the workshop without warning. Laidenn, Santa's only dark elf-in-training, was already waiting for their arrival. But there were too many for the latent dark elf to handle. The beasts manage to kidnap Santa and take him back to the outskirts. There is only one other creature that can help Laidenn defeat the vampires and bring Santa back to the workshop before he has to deliver toys. And they are the living dead elves. But only a true dark elf can raise the creatures.Laidenn must do all he can to finish his Dark Elf training before Christmas Eve night. He must raise the Living Dead Elves and lead them into the outskirts to defeat the vampires and save Christmas. But who are the vampires and what's their motive? Can they be led by someone from Santa's past? Most questions will be answered in, Laidenn The Dark Elf book one.

A young reader’s book about vampires, zombies, dark magic and a Santa Claus that can kick butt!
Far on the outskirts of The North Pole lies a secret that Santa hoped to keep secret. Vampire exist…in the form of elves and snowmen. One day without warning, Santa’s workshop is attacked by these vicious creatures and Santa is taken. Not even Laidenn, Santa’s dark elf-in-training could stop them. Now, Laidenn must go in search of St. Nick and there is only one other creature that can help Laidenn defeat the vampires and bring Santa back to the workshop before he has to deliver toys. The Living Dead Elves.
Laidenn must quickly finish his Dark Elf training, raise the Living Dead Elves and lead them into the outskirts to defeat the vampires and save Christmas.
Laidenn the Dark Elf by Lyle Perez-Tinics is a fun little tale of adventure, friendship and the horror that threatens the North Pole and Christmas, in general. The author absolutely loves Christmas and this is made clear by the many holiday filled references. You might read some “curse words” such as Holy Geese-a-laying or find some locations within The North Pole like Stocking Cemetery as homages to his holiday spirit. One of Lyle’s other passions is evident in Laidenn the Dark Elf, as well. Horror. Yes, since this book is written for a younger audience the scare and gore factor has been toned down a bit, but the elements that make a horror story what it is are there. And, hey, what’s a good holiday/horror story without a few pictures? Cinsearae S has added her illustrating talent with some depictions of various scenes from the story.
Since I am an ex-Kindergarten teacher I do feel obligated to give my opinion on the appropriate age for children reading Laidenn the Dark Elf. The age range, in my opinion, should be no younger than a third grader and that, of course, is taking into consideration that you, as the parent, know your child and what they can and cannot handle. There is one act of violence, specifically, that, to a seasoned horror veteran, may seem pretty tame, but to a child just being introduced to the genre may be a little more than they can handle. I would suggest is reading Laidenn the Dark Elf before giving it to your child and then read it WITH your child so you can share the experience together. Family reading time is always a good thing!
Hey, I was a Kindergarten teacher for 10 years…it was my job was to help get families reading together. Plus, even though this book is written for the younger audience, I believe that many adult readers would have fun with this tale, as well. So, go read Laidenn the Dark Elf, share and enjoy it with your child and have a very Scary…I mean Merry Christmas!
