Torcivia is a divorced man who transplanted himself from Pennsylvania into the treacherous dating pool in Southern California. His feline companions, Syd and Symon, share his home in San Diego and an occasional dish of leftover tuna. Torcivia loves nothing better than bellying up to the bar with his favorite social lubrication (wine) and watching the bizarre mating rituals of the locals, which he translates into humorous essays. He has been single long enough to be involved in a few train wrecks of his own, admitting that he's "one relationship disaster away from a third cat."
I love Phils books. Somewhere (maybe Facebook) he said he doesn't understand the negative reviews he gets, well Phil, I don't either. First, he states in the book that the book is a collection of essays. If you were expecting a novel why did you keep reading? Second, Phil has a certain 'brand' of humor if you will. I love it and I will be reading all of his books.
One (divorced) man's (shallow) attempt at humor on marriage, dating, women, sex, life, and relationships in general. Short chapters that are meant to amuse fail miserably.
Nice Meeting You is rather sad and frankly boring. I'm not sure why anyone would pick this book up...
This was a funny book! If your looking for short chapters you can pick up and read and laugh this book is great. I am sure I will pick it up from time to time and read some of the chapters just for a laugh!!
I obtained this through goodreads first reads program- thank you!!!! Very fun well-written essays. They only thing I'd say (and this is in NO way a criticism) but I think it will resonate a bit more with men than it will with woman. Really liked it though!
Received this as a Goodreads Giveaway book-Thanks!! I just couldn't get in to this book, but think it's great that this perspective is out there. I'm giving it to my husband and I'm thinking he will enjoy it more-it's more his taste for sure.
