Not only was I able to understand some fundamental basics of foraging wild mushrooms and the general culture of mushroom forays, Sara Ann Friedman is an excellent writer and I didn't expect to laugh and giggle so much. The story she tells about checking in on a patch of amanita muscaria in central park for several days then super-stealth-style harvesting the mushrooms and then going on a shroom trip with a friend was so funny.

Scientific, poetic, digestible, entertaining, and interesting. I love the absolute nerd-dom of this author and her book inspired me to be more curious about mushrooms and my daily world.
