Set in 1800 France 'Housekeepers come and go, but a wife stays.' Thus Philippe, the émigré Comte de Svignac, instructs his man, Junot, to find him a wife. For alone, he can no longer battle to restore his family fortune lost in the French REVOLUTION. Lucy Forster, young, widowed and practically destitute is willing to the Count's wily French servant, soon finds herseld agreeing to marry Phiippe. Being mistress of the dilapidated Brooktye Farm and its thriving new vineyards is a daunting prospect, et Lucy comes to love the house and its master. But how can she ever hope to win his love when all his attention is centred on the grape harvest rather than on his beautiful new wife?

i didn't like this book. it was told from only the heroine point of view and none of the heros. i didn't like the hero and didn't see anything to like about him. maybe if this books longer.
