What kind of woman would continue a relationship with a man whom she knows is married, although she thought that she was the "ONE?" How about conceiving his child, being at his beck and call and on top of all of that, he physically abuses you, unleashing a tirade of jealousy, anger and frustrations at the thought of you moving forward in your life.
Wait, maybe that's too much for you.
Situation #2
What kind of woman would sink so low that she carries on a long time off and on again affair with her best friend's husband? How about finding out that she's pregnant and is sitting and listening to her best friend pour out her blues about his being unfaithful and giving her a STD?
Still too much?
Well that's just some of the drama going on in Nikole Freemans' scandalous life. On the edge, Nikole is trying to get a handle on her life. She's just learned that her funding for school is gone. She's unemployed, on the brink of being evicted, about to be jailed for a car and stalked and taunted all while trying to decide if she should bring yet another child into this world by somebody else's husband. During all of this, she meets the absolute most perfect guy. Mr. Right, he's unmarried, which is a plus, and he appears to want something solid with Nikole. Will her shameful shenanigans halt her chances of getting her "OWN" guy?
SIDELINE HO was plied you with just enough info, fashion and facts. Some editing issues, but with all of the drama packed between these pages, it does not stir away your attention.
Author C.J. Domino cooks up a scandalous dish with her debut novel, Sideline Ho, which leaves a bittersweet taste. This story is told from the perspective of single mother and mistress, Nikole Freeman, who is infatuated by cars, clothes, and jewelry. Forever motivated to come up on a baller with money, Nikole gets involved in two love triangles.
One affair is with her best friend Bebe's big time lawyer husband Brian. The other affair is with her son's married father and ex-NBA player, Terrance.
Nikole's decisions get complicated when she drops out of college and is cut off of her trust fund by her father, a high profile judge. Without her parents financial support, Nikole faces eviction and a stolen car charge from the rental company. The plot thickens when Nikole stops receiving child support from her son's father and finds out she is pregnant by Brian.
Sideline Ho delves into the life of the glamorous and scandalous so much that at times the perspective became annoying due to Nikole's narrow minded, low self-esteem driven decisions. Her chatter throughout the novel is overbearing and jolts the story. However, the novel resonates because it presents several issues such as infidelity, fathers not paying child support, domestic violence, and the serious effects of being silent about personal tragedies.
A quick read, Sideline Ho separates the women from the girls when it comes to knowing why your spouse cheats. I'd recommend to readers who like baby momma drama and soap-opera-like plots.
What did you like best about this book? I like that the author took a risk in telling the story from the perspective of a sideline hoe, a disliked person who is satisfied with being on the side.
What did you dislike about this book? I disliked that the author did not make the main character compelling like the other side characters Bebe or Royce.
How can the author improve this book? The author can enhance the book by providing less of the chatty conversation from Nikole that becomes redundant. Nikole had the opportunity to become a much more complex character if she was not so stereotypical and predictable.
In this book you learn to love and hate the characters. You have Nikole & BeBe that gets on your nervous. Nikole is the Sideline Ho and Bebe is a Ho but she plays the innocent/married roll. Now Nikole & BeBe is best of friends but there is a catch to it. Just say having friends like them two you wouldn't need no enemies.
What I liked about the book? The characters was brought out and keep the pages turning. The flow was smooth and to the point.
What I didn't like about the book? Nikole had a child and the child was always with her mother. The child character was not developed at all. She would go and pick him up but never say anything.
What could make the book better? The book needs to be formitted better but it didn't take away from the book. It's a great read.
This book was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! It started off all over the place and kind of got on track, but still was bad. The ending was also very unrealistic.
Spoiler Alert:
At one point, the book mentioned Bebe saying her husband got someone pregnant. It never mentioned that the husband even knew at this time the main character was supposed to be pregnant by him so it would lead you to wonder who else was supposed to be pregnant by him.
I really like the summary of this book because it talks about a female being a ho and not caring. I strongly believe this book will be one of them books were you cant put down.
