Perspectives on Capitalism explores the theoretical ideas of Marx, Keynes, Schumpeter and Weber, not so much to advance exegetical/polemical scholarly debates on abstruse questions, but to focus on the influence that their ideas have had on our contemporary perceptions and analyses of social realities. The contributors analyse the economic theories of capitalist economies that were developed Marx, Keynes and Schumpeter. They also explore the political and sociological dimensions of the ideas of Marx, Weber and Gramsci.
Sudipta Kaviraj is a scholar of South Asian Politics and Intellectual History, often associated with Postcolonial and Subaltern Studies. He is currently teaching at Columbia University in the department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies.
