"In 1943 Ed O'Reilly became the mail carrier on Price Road in Leaksville, NC. (Route #1 as it was known for postal addresses). Price Road was primarily a Colored community. Because of his interaction with the people on his route, Ed went through a personal growth in his understanding of America's Black / White relationship. Ed had always accepted life as a White person who lived in the Jim Crow South. He saw racial abuse throughout his community and America without seeing; therefore, Ed, like many other White people similar to him, did not feel any compunction that would require him to do anything.Ed began a metamorphosis in his thinking; then, he made a conscious effort to make sure that his children learned the life lessons he only came to grasp because of his job Through the lessons he learned from the 'old folks,' the 'church ladies, 'and other residents of Price Road Ed the world of racial understanding opens through the door of communication; we need to talk about IT Let's talk about it!"

Author Elaine T.Jones takes her readers on a historical journey set in the year of 1943, through the eyes of main character Ed O'Reilly, a long time mail carrier, ED is very precise in navigating us through the town of Price Roads in Lakeville, NC which was primarily a colored community in which other mail carries would dare to go in. Ed learns that although he had carried plenty of mail through Price Road, Ed began to develop a relationship with people who don't look like him, with a newfound perspective of his inner feelings about colored folks, things didn't match up with the myths that his ancestors passed on to him as a way of belief, that colored folks had tails and we're animals, the racial injustice and laws that are written into our government system. while not understand in the same US wars for freedom yet not free.

In this story you will ask yourself why in 2021 must Black America’s racism still exists when will people of color be acceptable, also in this story ED who is white decide to make a difference with being a leader in his family which cost he and his family unwanted trouble I recommend this book not only to people of color but of all color and creed to look racism in the face of it's ugly sickness and to look through the eyes of human eyes to see why one would be comfortable with this mindset that superiority riens more than humanity.
