I read a fair chunk of this book in preparation of applying to grad school. I wasn't planning on applying to a top grad school, but thought it would give me some things to think about as I weighed my options. Which it did. It was interesting to read the stories of people who struggled in college and then went on to have great experiences that allowed them to get into a good grad school. It was also interesting to get a little bit of a glimpse into a higher tier of society than I am familiar with. It would be awesome to have had someone work with me in choosing a career and major in college, and then helping me through the admittance process, but I don't think I could have afforded it. But I suppose if I had gotten their help, then maybe I could have afforded it (that is, taken a loan out to pay them and then use my amazing education to pay off the loan). But hey, there's more to life than getting in a great grad school, or getting a great-paying job. Overall, it gave me some valuable insights and things to think about in terms of what I am going for in life. Not a page-turner, but somewhat useful. Hopefully there's a more up-to-date book out there now.
