We all learn from our own experiences, but this book offers you the unique opportunity to learn from other people's. And not just any people, but a select group who have persevered and succeeded in a variety of fields. Among them are writers, actors, politicians, developers, directors, businessmen, and professional athletes. Some have won Oscars, others have won Emmys, Tonys, and Grammys. Even a Pulitzer and a Cy Young. What they all have in common is that they pursued their dreams. And isn't that what we all want to do?
As those were the interviews, Burt's usual great sense of sarcasm was absent; plus, a lot of these people I actually knew nothing about - but it was still enjoyable...albeit it took me a while to finish this book.
I never usually read books about celebrities because the subjects are generally too shallow and just not interesting enough. This changed with "Portraits of Success." Sixty people were interviewed from all walks of life and the questions that were asked of them revealed quite startling answers. My favorite question is about who the interviewee would invite to a dinner party (only eight allowed)either living or dead. The responses are surprising. It's a fun and enjoyable book to read and quite entertaining.
