평균 이상만 하자고 생각하며 버티면서 살아왔다. 스스로를 끝까지 몰아붙여 한계를 뛰어넘는 경험도 한번쯤은 해봐야할텐데. (해봐야 할까? 솔직히 잘 모르겠다.) 네 문제는 살면서 진정한 노력을 안 해봤다는 거야, 2년 전 과외 선생님의 말의 저주처럼 남았다. 내 안에 그럴 수 있을 불꽃이 있을까? 결핍이 부족한가. 열망이 없다. 체념하는 법을 너무 이르게 알아버린 것일지도. 지겹다. 가끔은 아주 지긋지긋하다.
저자처럼 온 힘을 다해 살아보고 싶다가도, 문득 너무 힘이 들고. 살아가는 게 그렇지 뭐. 속아 사는 것이고, 시간 때우기일텐데. 앞으로 살아갈 날이 너무 많다. 그래도 살아가야지.
