Energy for a Sustainable World: From the Oil Age to a Sun-Powered Future

Rate this book
An easy read, balancing the pros and cons, this book surveys the energy issue from a broad scientific perspective while considering environmental, economic, and social factors.
It explains the basic concepts, provides a historical overview and accurately assesses our current energy system based on fossil fuels, while outlining the alternatives for today and the future, including nuclear fusion and fission, solar energy and other renewables.
An excellent source of information and a must-read for non-specialists.

Good overview ca. 2010 or so. Realistic assessment of the technology possibilities, should be a guide for where funding and research is likely to do the most good. Wish I'd read it when it first came out, I could have avoided thinking about some dead-end technologies!
