Halal-i-Jur'at (English: Crescent of Courage) draws a parallel between dedicated patriots and people who take everything, including their country, for granted. It portrays the pain and grief of a true soldier on the insensitivities of his fellow countrymen. It was first published in Khawateen Digest and then later as part of a collection of stories in Umera Ahmed's Hum Kahan Kay Sachay They.
Umera Ahmed is one of the most widely-read and popular Urdu fiction novelist and screenplay writer of this era. She completed her Masters in English Literature from Murray College, Sialkot. Later she became an English language lecturer for the students of O and A levels at Army Public College, Sialkot. However she left the job a few years back in order to devote her full attention to writing. She began her writing career in 1998 at a quite young age. Her initial stories were published in monthly urdu digests and later came out in the form of books. She has written about 16 books , comprising of complete novels and compilations of short stories. However it was her novel "Peer-e-Kaamil (S.A.W.W)" which became her identity.
And yet again an excellent story to recommend our young kids. The emphasis is on listening to the stories of our elders and learn from their experiences.
Lesson>> I feel sad to see the younger generation so absorbed in their own lives, without showing respect for the sacrifices of our martyrs and the bravery of our soldiers on the borders. *sighs
