As an art lover, I'm often amazed when I see artworks in person. Since it's impossible to visit every major gallery worldwide, books like this are invaluable. "Paintings in the Hermitage" showcases the extensive collection of paintings in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The book also covers the museum's history and architectural development. It's the most comprehensive book on the Hermitage that I know of, and I highly recommend it.
