I have mixed feelings about this book.

On the one hand, I do really do like the breakdown between different types of words (Words of Accountability, Words of Encouragement, Words of High Expectations, Words of Relationship, etc.), and how we have to carefully choose/pair the right types together for the situation we're in.

However, as a high school teacher some of the examples they provide are on the "cornier" side, and there were quite a few I questioned would work for high school students. But, I am going to try some of these strategies with some of my 'high flyers' and see how it goes.

Overall, this book has practical advice for teachers, but so much of teaching is situational and it's up in the air about whether or not these techniques will match the reality of the modern classroom. I suppose I'll find out as I implement them!
