Little Alex Jackson is praying for a father. His widowed mother, Nina, is praying for a miracle. God gives them both the answer to those prayers in cowboy Clint Cooper!
I read this book back in 97 when it came out, and just re-read it. Great story, and if a guy can say a story is cute, this definitely falls into that category.
This was a cute story about a cowboy, Clint Cooper, who is running from his past and the deaths of his wife and son. It is also about a young widow, Nina Jackson, and her son, Alex. Nina and Alex are trying to recreate a dude ranch with the help of Clint. In a way, there was a little too much story for such a short book. There are a few characters we are introduced to, Alex's Grammy and Paw-Paw, and Nina's college-going sort-of-secretary, Ellen, and I just feel that their stories could have been expanded; there seems to be more there than was time to tell in this book. I think the main story of Clint, Nina, and Alex was wrapped up well, but the added characters were given such importance, with their stories not told, I feel like I missed out on something.
