Ginny Aiken, a former newspaper reporter, lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and their three younger sons--the oldest is married, has flown the coop, and made her a doting grandmother. Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in Valencia and Caracas Venezuela, Ginny discovered books at an early age. She wrote her first novel at age fifteen while she trained with the Ballets de Caracas, later to be known as the Venezuelan National Ballet. She burned that tome when she turned a "mature" sixteen. An ecletic list of jobs--including stints as reporter, paralegal, choreographer, language teacher, retail salesperson, wife, mother of four boys, and herder of their numerous and assorted friends, including the 135 members of first the Crossmen and then the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps--brought her back to books in search of her sanity. She is now the author of twenty-seven published works, but she hasn't caught up with that elusive sanity yet.

After reading several of Ginny Aiken's books and enjoying them, I decided to read some of her other books. I started with "Candy Kiss." I was not disappointed.

It appears that she started on the secular side of books before moving to inspirational. Since she is mostly an inspirational author now, I'm reviewing with this book from that frame of mind.

The romance between Dulcie and Race was wonderful! I enjoyed an old-fashioned romance where two people meet, fall in love (in spite of so many obstacles), get married, and face problems. The passion shown between these two was so well. The conflict surrounding the purchasing of Dulcie's chocolate recipe was predictable, but so interesting to read about.

The couple shared a few very steamy, sensual kisses before marriage. The did allude to intimacy (inside of marriage) and allowed us into the bedroom on their wedding night. The descriptions used were tasteful and sweet - nothing dirty, in my opinion. I was happy with the way the entire romance was written. There was a bit of cussing in this (d-n, h-l), but it's nothing like a lot of the sensual romance books out there.

The only thing that bothered me was the fact that Granny was a witch and practiced witchcraft. As I read, I feared others would get involved, but was happy in the end that it was accepted as "an old way of thinking."

Like I said, I found this book to be a very, very sweet romance. I am very happy with the way everything turned out and enjoyed all the characters. I would give this book five stars, if not for the witchcraft.
