The true story of Eva Ziebart as told by her daughter Vera (Elvera Ziebart Reuer) of her WWII odyssey of 2500 miles, fleeing the enemy: Russia. This tale of a German woman seeking a home, begins in Russia, where her parents migrated at the turn of the century. When war breaks out, she is forced to flee with heer children from coutnry to country, from home to home, till she finally crosses the last bridge from a ship to a NYC dock in 1949. Kind, courageous and tenacious, she perseveres to save her family. She endures untold hardship and loss traveling from Ukraine to Poland to Germany fleeing Russian debauchery and depravity. I cannot help but marvel at Eva's strength, her unflappable commitment to the safety of her children and for never giving up hope.
Real life story about Vera and her family having to travel many miles during WW2. Some very disturbing things were mentioned about what the Russian soldiers did to young girls and women. Made me so thankful for my life and how well off we are.
