This is John Roosevelt Boettiger’s tribute to his famous mother Anna Roosevelt and her second husband John Boettiger. John Roosevelt was very young when his grandfather FDR died in 1945, and the book is not really about the FDR Roosevelt side of the family. The book is about John’s mother and dad and their great love for each other, his dad’s integrity and skill as a newspaper man and the terrible depression that ended his life way too early. Anna was the oldest of 6 children of Franklin and Eleanor. She was the only daughter and held a special place in the heart of her dad. FDR’s children had many advantages in life but at the end of the day they lived in a bubble and had many challenges. Sadly, growing up Roosevelt was special, unique but filled with more than its share of sadness. JIM
