This is the first English translation of a portion of "Historia Antigua de Mexico" written originally in Spanish by celebrated Mexican historian Mariano Veytia. He relates the history, astronomy, and religious practices as he developed them from the charts, diagrams, and paintings of the Native Americans. I didn't complete the entire book, rather I skimmed through the more boring parts. After reading Voices from the Dust and a few others that are much better, this one was a hard read. It is a translation of Spanish writing from the 15th century so it is laborious to read. Many sentences run on for half a page or more. I just didn't have the energy to plow into it despite being fascinated by the topic.
