This new edition of the first two books of the God On Trial Series features extended additions by the author. Instead of two separate books, readers can find both "I Was Framed!" Signed, God and Accused or Excused in the same volume.
Understand how covenant, the creation story, the unseen realm, and original sin impact the event of the world and how God responds to human beings.
Many Christians will say that “God is good all the time”. In the same breath they will say that God is the One who causes many tragedies. Doug Webb takes a look at these allegations to see if they are accurate. He gives alternative reasons for why tragedies and hardships occur.
Discover that God’s intentions for man are only for good and not evil. Learn the connection between the way God has dealt with angelic beings in the past and the way he deals with mankind now. Webb lays the foundation for why God sent Jesus Christ to save mankind.
Readers "The detective idea worked great, not only has a hook, but also as method for doing exegesis. Who wouldn't have more fun looking for clues and solving a mystery rather than studying hermeneutics? The process of starting with the mystery and then going through scriptural evidence worked really well. We're left hanging with a few questions, but it seems like these will be addressed by follow-up books in the series. The book probably works best for tweens or young adults, but I think a wide range of ages would find it useful. This sort of book is an important corrective to misuses of some cliches -- "God has His reasons" or "Everything happens for a reason" -- while digging into what's going on in these situations."
"What a great read! It grabs your attention with thought provoking questions and does not let go! Even at the end you want it to continue. Unlike some books with lots of scripture references, it does not become boring, it just continues to draw you in."
"The author invites readers to join him in a journey of being a Bible detective. He gives clues (relevant verses) from the Bible and encourages us to ask questions and dig deep for answers. In Introduction, he lays out a list of key events for people who are not familiar with Biblical history. In this book, Doug Webb investigates the Fall of Man and the subsequent Curse (consequences) in Genesis. He includes two main accusatory Why would God put a tree nearby, which if eaten from, could cause death? and Why did God let Lucifer have access to the human race? He proceeds to use Scriptures to explain and help readers understand God's intentions & motives and look at the world and life events through God's perspective. The book also covers the topics of free will, death, destruction, and God's redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. The book is small and easy to read. I like the way the author recaps with bullet points periodically throughout the book. It's an interesting read for those who want to know why "bad things happen to good people." I appreciate the author's humble admittance that "clearly, we don't understand everything that is going on behind the scenes. Truly God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts." (p.109) As you read the book, you will realize that the main problem with Lucifer, Adam, Eve, and Cain was their pride and self-centeredness that seek to do things their own way, not God's way. May we be humble and teachable as we continue to study God's Word and seek to know Him more!
