In this book, former alcohol counsellor, Marcantonio Spada provides strategies for dealing with excessive drinking based on cognitive behavioral therapy. Clinical studies have shown that CBT significantly reduces heavy drinking patterns and that these gains were maintained after 12 months. CBT can help people develop skills to better manage their behaviour in situations where they drink heavily - for example in social situations, when stressed, or when facing problems and anxieties. CBT also helps people manage cravings for alcohol.
I have learned a great deal from this book! Though it is developed as a cognitive behavior self help book, I found the authors insights extremely helpful.
