For a young children's book series, it was pretty good. It all starts when Oliver Moon writes two lists for his birthday party: kids he'd like to have and kids who should not be invited. His mom doesn't realize that it is two lists and invites them all. There was action and the illustration really helped with the text. It's like a young persons Harry Potter with spells, magic and kids being kids.
For example, one of the guests George Gullet, wouldn't stop eating the food. Pretty soon the cupcakes were talking. "Help! Help! squeaked another little voice. Don't let him eat us!" "He's grabbed six of us already!" came another squeal.
The characters in Oliver Moon's family were all very likeable.
A cute book with plenty of fantasy details as Oliver deals with having his 'enemies' accidentally invited to his birthday party. But luckily for him, he has a secret helper to balance out the nastiness. This series works well for young readers who want fantasy and magic but aren't yet ready for the big, long tomes like Harry Potter.
At the party a bully wrecked the party decorations and put all the presnts in his pockets. Oliver Moon had the best pary ever because it was so much fun and he was 8 years old! He can't believe that the bully took all his presents, took all the decorations EVEN blew out his candles and let nobody have any food! The bully was an angry boy who liked to ruin things for everone else.
