A STEAMY, SPLASH-INSPIRED ROMANTIC COMEDY

After a storm causes migrating mermaid Angel to make an emergency grow-legs-and-rest-at-the-first-beach-she-sees manuver, she thinks things can't get worse.
(Spoiler alert: they can)

Unsuspecting handyman Cliff Burlocke notices her when working late fixing a particularly stubborn lighthouse. While his heart was in the right place, his actions cause the misplaced mermaid to be landlocked.

Bad news: Angel is stranded on land until the next full moon.

Worse news: The meddling, well meaning handyman knows exactly how to get under her skin (new legs' skin included).

Worst News: He's starting to make her temporary situation feel like anything but…

Undertow is a contempary, open-door romance about a lost mermaid and the equally lost humans that find her. This book is about love in all in forms, including grief.

TW: Past death of teenager (off page), assault (non sexual), drowning, being followed by man

Undertow is funny, heartfelt, and most importantly, erotic. Ms. Garnet really brings her characters to life, and makes you care about their relationship. Cliff and Angel are cute together and have chemistry almost immediately. My personal favorite side character was Captain Armstrong, love the "gruff but still cares" trope. If you loved Splash(1984), or are just a mermaid connoisseur in general this is definitely worth your time.

Such a great book! I was hooked from the beginning. The characters are relatable and lovable, and the pace is perfect. The setting is amazing, the dialogue is realistic, sweet, and dreamy. The steamy scenes are well-written and in good taste, which make you feel like you’re actually there. Definitely plenty of funny moments, but also sincere moments that, paired with their past, make the characters seem real. Totally recommend if you’re looking for a fun, steamy, sweet book!

Garnet’s writing is pure magic. From her witty sense of humor that made me real-life lol to the care she puts into developing her characters, consider yourself sucked in from the very first chapter. Came for the Spongebob references, stayed for the steamy rom-com goodness. Plus, who doesn’t love mermaids?!

The book was a rollercoaster of emotion. Easy to read, approachable vernacular. All around worth the time to sit down and read through.

This book was full of cheesy, cute, swoony, and spicy moments. I loved the spongebob references (MY LEG!) and the many ocean puns. I would definitely say this is an insta-love type of story so be ready for the sappy inner monologues and quick realizations of love.

Angel is such a great character. She is bubbly and sweet and kind but also feisty when she needs to be. She has no problem speaking up for what she believes is right and she’s great at fighting with grumpy men. Cliff is just heart eyes to the max. His love for his parents, Polly, and Angel can be felt through every page of the story. I love a man that’s not afraid to cry! He’s very much in tune with his emotional side and isn’t afraid to show it. He’s been through a lot of heart break in his life and it’s nice to see Angel pretty much bring him back to life 💘

Something I also really liked about this book was that it felt like it was more than just a love story between Angel and Cliff. There are so many amazing side characters who had their own backstories and chances to find love too. Polly is the grandmother figure we ALL need in life and Captain Bruce is the epitome of a grump with a heart of pure gold. The Mama’s Boys boat crew were all so sweet and funny, too! Cookie was my favorite 😅

Overall, this was such a fun read and a wonderful debut from Paige! I can’t wait to see what she writes next ☺️
