California Bungalows of the Twenties - Henry L. Wilson The beloved Spouse gave me two books of historical USian house plans: one of late 19th century and one of early 20th. And if you're the sort of person who just enjoys looking at floorplans, they're both good. But while the Queen Anne are interesting with their towers and window seats and servants rooms and staircases, they aren't actually appealing as houses in which to live. The bungalows have got them beat all to hell and gone. The rooms tend to be similar in size, there are enough bathrooms, that sort of thing. I'd love to know what it would cost to build one now.Personal copy
