There are many mistaken ideas about spiritual awakening. One is that you must embrace eastern philosophies in order to achieve enlightenment. This book is intended for serious students who want to achieve awakening, or Initiation, on a western path. The western path, called the Western Mystery Tradition, has been walked by spiritual aspirants for millennia. This well-researched book focuses on two strands of the Western Mystery Tradition, Kabbalah and Tarot, to outline a modern perspective on these ancient traditions. In addition to dispelling false ideas, wishful thinking, and foolish stereotypes, it teaches us how to use individual Tarot cards as a means of staying in touch with what's really happening inside us as we change in response to the many challenges presented by the spiritual quest. This book provides solid, 21st century advice on how to deal with the personal, real-world issues that arise on the journey toward Initiation. THIS BOOK WON THE 2011 ARIZONA BOOK PUBLISHERS AWARD IN THE CATEGORY OF RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY.
I feel the tarot is often misunderstood or abused, usually as a result of publications lacking any depth or focusing entirely on divination. The aim of this book appears to be to correct these false or confused notions and to spread awareness of the real potential for growth contained within the tarot, when used as a tool for personal transformation and/or spiritual enlightenment.
It sets the tone perfectly, showing the reader how much more the cards have to offer than parlour tricks, leading them instead to the deeper, esoteric path of Kabbalah. There are meditations/contemplations provided for each tarot card, and the descriptions and correspondences are incredibly detailed.
Overall, this book is well written, without a hint of condescension, fully referenced, and features no formatting errors in the Kindle version.
