Despite its quirky title, Dennis Prince's 'Worship is a Bowl of Noodles, or What Would Jesus Sing?' has a very straight forward message - we need to sing more about God and less about us!

This isn't a long or difficult book, but filled with solid theology it does require some perseverance. Prince has examined the content of 100's of worship songs, new and old and argues that most of the songs we sing are calorie heavy but nutrient lite comfort food, and that we need to rebalance this with an emphasis of meat and vegie redemption and God-focused praise songs.

He includes a chapter on music styles, although this is secondary to his purpose. Helpfully he also talks about men and worship, although again only briefly.

This is a book that graciously tackles the bad theology in much contemporary worship music and which every pastor and worship leader should read.
