Max really loves his cell phone. It doesn't seem to bother him that he's missing the world around him. It isn't until his family takes a trip to Grand Canyon National Park and a pesky raven steals his beloved device that Max is forced to lift his head and notice the magnificence of nature, the love of his family, and the excitement that life has to offer. Max Almost Missed It opens readers' eyes to the joys of disconnecting and experiencing a real-life adventure.

Chris Britt's award-wining editorial cartoons offer commentary on national and international political events.

Chris Britt has been telling stories and illustrating since he was a small boy. He has been the staff editorial cartoonist for a multitude of newspapers. His cartoons are syndicated by over two hundred newspapers nationally and internationally and have appeared in Newsweek, Time magazine, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and USA Today, as well as aired on CNN’s Inside Politics, MSNBC, Fox News, and ABC’s Good Morning America. Chris lives in foggy and soggy Tacoma, Washington, where he writes and draws.

Put your phone down and see the scenery. When Max's cell phone is taken away by a raven, he sees the beauty around him. Even though it doesn't have cell phones in it, the message of taking time to slow down may remind some of Nancy Carlson's classic Take Time to Relax.

Here is a good book to give to a child who spends too much time on electronic devices. Good for Britt to address this issue, building a story of why Max should explore the world beyond his cellphone! Beautiful illustrations.
Recommend for all ages.

An enjoyable story about how beautiful nature is when you pay attention, instead of gluing your eyes to a screen. Your eyes will also enjoy the illustrations that accompany the story.

This picture book makes the point there is a wild world to see if one stays off their screens. Max happens to be at the Grand Canyon when he drops his cell phone and it is picked up by a crow. Max begins having a fun time going down into the canyon.
