The story between Tonya and Malcolm is fun and complex, as they have a lot of hurt and fear to work through, rebuilding trust.

Tonya's attention to and compassion for her friend, though, that was inspiring. It's hard to describe what happens here without spoilers, but be like Tonya, and pay attention to sudden shifts in your friends' personality and behavior. Especially if the shift happens adjacent to a new relationship. And be sure to pray first, before darting off on your own plans.

I received a copy of this book from the author and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

Lessons on forgiveness so creatively delivered

Loved the book...the characters, the
storyline. I imagine it is hard to tell a story effectively with multiple themes e.g. forgiveness, domestic abuse etc but Aminata has done it without causing confusion. And the authors note at the end...nice touch. Kudos Aminata.

I forgot to write my review immediately upon finishing the novel but I did score it a 5 after Goodreads came up at the end. Don’t recall all the details as it’s been almost three weeks and probably almost 15-20 books back. The book deals with some horrific situation occurring in Cassie’s life. Being the friend that she is, Tonya isn’t going to standby and witness a friend’s downfall without some kind of intervention. Tanya had missed some services at her own church to try to avoid her ex that has returned to the city and is now employed at her own church. He was her soulmate! How can she stand to be near him? They have history and it’s not pleasant. Unknowingly Malcolm feels like Tanya and they have both only kinda existed since their break up a few years ago.

His perfect wife review
By Aminata Coote

Life is can often feel be like a roller coaster, with twists and turns, and gravity defying drops that seem to come out of nowhere. This is the life of Mac and Tonya - with the additional twist of the roller coaster ride splitting off and dividing the riders from each other for a season.

When Mac and Tonya go their separate ways, it is painful and creates mistrust between them. As life sometimes goes, they are reunited through church commitments. As the story unfolds, you can feel the pain, mistrust, and anxiety for both of them.

The roller coaster of life has reunited them but as always, the past haunts them both. As Mac met with Pastor Carlisle, who reminded him “God puts us where He needs us, even if it’s not where we want to be.”

Mac and Tonya go about their lives; Tonya trying to avoid Mac and all the pain from their break up, Mac dealing the hurt from not only the break up but also facing his alcoholic father and his anger towards him. There remains the cable of forgiveness and redemption that carries them through life.

I love how the author brings in multiple storylines and is able to blend them all together. From domestic violence to issues that the Christian church faces with the young people of this generation. All while keeping us engaged with Mac and Tonya’s love story.

I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Tonya and Mac were high school sweethearts. Years later they meet again when they must work together with the youth program at the church. Mac is a youth minister and Tonya is also helping with the youth.
Mac would like to renew their friendship but Tonya doesn't seem to want to spend time with him. Neither one of them will open up about what caused their breakup. If they would only be honest about their feelings they would realize they both have feelings for the other.
Tonya is concerned about one of her friends who she believes is being physically abused by her boyfriend. When she shares her concerns with her friend it builds a wedge between them.
The ending has some unexpected drama which made for an interesting ending to the story.

Secrets and untruths

This book is an amazing and inspiring lesson to allow God to be God! The lesson of not forgiving and the horrific consequences on the people affected.

Did I miss something? Cassandra was in the hospital with guards and Peyton was reveling in her five minutes of fame. Will they have their stories? Will an update happen?

I enjoyed being invited into the lives of Malcolm and Tonya and the gift of forgiveness. I love how I was able to be entertained by the story as well as feeling like I was being drawn closer to God's word. I truly love the inspiration at the end of the book , along with letting the readers know what book were next in the series.

His Perfect Wife

Mac was so busy trying not to be like Max that he fell to he was just you like him in so many ways and Tanya love for everyone felt that gave free range to manage everybody's life. Both forgot the order is pray prepare then take action.

Good start to a new series

This was a good book. A good first in a series, I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. There were a few typos in the book, but otherwise it was well written. I enjoyed the twists and the drama. I look forward to the next book.

Aminata Coote is telling great, relevant & relatable Christian stories. Tonya & Malcolm's story had me come back to read this since I read His Perfect Match first. The story is told so well, I wanted it to be a TV series, so I could watch the stories of their lives unfold.
