Belinda grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, in a family that rodeoed and raced cars. A romantic at heart, she spent her teen years writing about far away lands, castles, and princes. After graduation, Belinda answered the call to adventure and traveled to West Berlin, Germany, where she rode with the British Saddle Club in the stadium built by Hitler for the 1936 Summer Olympics. She also raced cars on a quarter-mile dirt track 30 feet from the famous Berlin Wall, and frequently traveled through the Communist sector to go hiking and camping in the Harz Mountains.
Marriage, family, and a full-time paralegal job got in the way of Belinda's writing until 1991 when she decided to steal a few moments each night after putting the kids to bed. In 1999, Belinda won the Traditional Category of the Golden Heart with a story conceived during an over-night critique/camp out with other writers and four months later sold that same manuscript to Silhouette Romance. In addition to writing romance, Belinda is published in book-length and magazine nonfiction. She credits her success to her father, who reared her to have the courage to follow her dreams.
Belinda lives in Elm Mott, Texas, with her husband, daughter, and spoiled cat. She enjoys clogging, painting, reading, country and western music, dancing, fishing, scuba diving, camping, and getting together with other writers. Belinda loves to hear from her readers and invites you to write her at P.O. Box 1165, Elm Mott, Texas 76640, or email her at belinda@belindabarnes.com
This was a nice story, however, I am more used to Harlequin Presents, so this didn’t quite have the angst or crappy heroes I’m used to. However, the ending did elicit some feelings from me so that is always a plus if a story can do that. Some of the things in the story were very reality based while other things seemed a little too good to be true. However, that is how most of the romance stories go, I mean the HP’s I read can be crazy!
Heroine-30’s, divorced, works for a law firm. After her cheating husband took up with his secretary and impregnated her, the h got out of dodge. Since he was a lawyer, he was able to screw her over in the divorce, so she didn’t get much. Due to Fallopian tube issues she is unable to get pregnant the normal way so she was trying invitro with hubby, unsuccessfully. Her eggs aren’t getting any fresher, so she decides to go it alone and become a single mother.
Hero-30’s, never married, works for the DA’s office with hopes to be next DA. When he was a teen he was wild, got his gf pregnant, and they were forced by their parents to relinquish rights to the child. The gf miscarried and the H was sent to a private school. Due to this incident and other things, he has a distant relationship with his father. However, he is close with his older brother and volunteered to offer up his sperm to impregnate his SIL. He really doesn’t think he will ever want to go through the whole children and marriage thing himself as he is messed up from the loss of his baby during the teen years.
Uh, OH the h has a name similar to the sil, and they impregnated her with the H’s sperm. He finds out about this when they call to tell him the insemination was successful. Yet, he knows his sil is not pregnant. He seeks out the h and tells her he is going to fight for custody of the baby. ‘There does seem to be an attraction between them. Yet neither wants a relationship. However, they come together for the sake of the baby(babies) when she starts to spot.
* She moves in with the H after he convinces her it is best for the babies *He works a lot, and spends time in basement avoiding h and his attraction by building baby furniture *They get close and share a kiss, both wanting more. * He proposes a marriage of convenience, she says no, weeks pass, then she says yes *He says it can go slow, but eventually he wants a real relationship *They finally consummate their marriage only to have her develop cramping * He spends more time away(is he cheating she thinks)to avoid his overwhelming attraction for h plus he is trying to be the next DA(she doesn’t know this) * she has his family over to mend fences, finds out he is trying to be next DA and she doesn’t want to be married to someone who is married to his job, she tells him that she will be leaving him *Her water breaks(he blames himself for stressing her out) she has an emergency cesarean and delivers two boys. One is struggling. *He finally sees the h and avows his ever dying love and decides he doesn’t want the DA position after all if it means being away She vows her undying love. * Epilogue- He has decided he will work with his dad and brother. The brother’s wife is pregnant the natural way because once they stopped stressing and decided to adopt, it happened. The H gives the h a mothers ring with room to add more stones so when they decide to add to their family they can do so.
Overall a satisfying read. I didn’t quite buy into his not wanting children and marriage because of his teenage indiscretion, or the drama that ensued because of it. I wish that part would have been written slightly different. One does need to embrace fantasy land when reading the story as everything seemed to get tied up nicely with very little drama. However, we do read this to escape, so it’s all good!

This book came in a box of secondhand HP’s that I bought over the internet.
The H’s sister in law has trouble getting pregnant. So the H offers his sperm for IVF to get his brother’s wife pregnant.
Ughh. Personally I think it’s disgusting to have yourself injected with the sperm of the brother of your husband. So I don’t like the theme of the book. I only skimmed through the book.
Furthermore the H is far too mellow, too soft. Just a nice guy with a normal job. But this is a HP. I want the HP hero to be a dream. A guy you would never meet in real life, like a successful millionaire.
And what annoyed me: she wanted to be a mother and then suddenly after she gets pregnant, she needs (financial and otherwise) help so she soon moves in with the H, a guy she hardly knows. So why did you do IVF if you can’t support yourself.
