This book is about a puppy and a kitty. The puppy is trying to find out who is saying meow because he does not know it is the kitty. The puppy saw lots of animals like a rooster, mouse and a bee but they did not say meow, they made different sounds!
This is a very cute book because of the animals, especially the puppy. I LOVE puppies. The pictures are colorful and fun.
I found this book at the library and wanted to check it out because there was such a cute puppy on the cover! I would love to own a copy of this book to keep because it is such a good book!
Puppy keeps hearing a strange "meowing" noise. Where's it coming from? As he scours the area inside and outside his home, he comes across various animals, but they all make different sounds. They don't say "meow" but they do say things like "Squeak" or "cock-a-doodle-doo." The story makes good use of repetition - just enough for effect not overdoing it. The illustrations are on one side of the page with the text on the other side. Large colorful hand-drawn letters emphasize each animal's sound. Good for preschool through grade 1.
While sleeping, a puppy thinks he hears a "meow." He begins to search to find out who said "meow." He asks rooster, mouse, big dog, bee, fish and frog, but to no avail. He still doesn't know who said "meow." He trudges home and is trying to go back to sleep when he hears it again! Only this time, on the windowsill is a cat! Guess who said meow?
After the cat leaves, puppy tries to go back to sleep. "Moooo...."
This book has very bright and lively illustrations. It is about a dog who keeps hearing noises so he searches to find where the noise is coming from. It is full of onomatopoeia's and could be used for inferring.
This book made me think if puppies really do not know what animal makes what sounds. I think it would be a good book for young children who are learning about animal sounds. The pictures were not that great.
Mommy says: Puppy spends the book looking for who is saying, "Meow," and asks a lot of animals about it in the process. My kids thoguht it was really funny, especially the almost 4yo.
Meow! is full of onamonapias. You could use this for inference too. Dog hears all kinds of sounds that kids could use their schema to help figure out what is making the noise.
