I haven't read many westerns, and I picked this one up based solely on the cover and title (throwing the whole "don't judge a book by its cover" line straight out the window). Overall, I found "The English Horses" to be a decent read. I enjoyed the story line, or rather, the multiple story lines. I do feel that having so many concurrent things going on, and by jumping from character to character, the book lacked some character development. I do plan to read the author's follow up to this one, simply because I want to know what happened to the mustanger!
