A short history written from the archaeological point of view, this little book gives fascinating insights on the evolution of the Roman colony of Cosa, founded on the Italian coast in 273 BC and abandoned probably due to piratic activity in the early 60s BC. Almost half the book are illustrations, which are extremely well chosen to accompany the text. The only pity is that the pictures are in black and white, which detracts a bit from the clarity of the images (the book dates back to 1980 if I am not mistaken).
