More than anything else, this book is about an amazing God who reaches down and touches ordinary lives. It is a testimony of all He has done for Jason Crabb’s family and for the people he has been privileged to meet throughout the years on the road. He wrote this book because every soul walks through the fire of adversity. Most of us have walked that plank several times. Whether the life of your dreams is unfolding before your eyes, or you are losing hope that it ever will, you have tasted a trial or two. No human being with breath in his lungs can say, “Difficulty has never darkened my doorstep.” You may have entirely different life experiences than Jason. Yet, when you look in the rearview mirror, you can see the high points and low points of days gone by. The important thing--the truly amazing thing--is that like Jason you came through all of it. There may be a scar or two to remind us of the past, but the past is behind us. Jason Crabb wants you to know that you came through it for a reason. There is something God is yet going to do with you. The important things to remember is that you can go through the fire with God’s help.
Jason Crabb's goal was to write a "song of encouragement to [the reader]". Boy did he succeed! I read this book in just one day, something I haven't done in a very long time. I had heard of The Crabb Family & of Jason Crabb as a solo gospel artist, but I wasn't especially familiar with their story (or their music for that matter). Through reading the book, I felt as though I got to know Jason & his family. They are real, genuine and honest people. Because of that, Jason's book (a retelling of some parts of his life along with some scriptural exposition) touched me. His is the story of a Christian, who is not perfect, but who, through his trust in God, has been able to overcome and to excel at God's purpose for his life. I heartily recommend this book for all those who need some encouragement and who may feel hopeless. Jason's message was timely for me, and I believe it will be the same for you.
Along with this book, I also received a copy of Jason Crabb's self-titled CD. I listened to the CD for awhile before I read the book, and also while I was reading. The same qualities that make the book valuable (Jason's honest, genuine and real manner) shine through the songs and the vocals on the CD, and help him convey the message that God cares & He will see you through.
Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
I won this book through goodreads first-reads! And I received both the book and Jason Crabb's audio CD! Using the narrative of the Gerald Crabb penned song, Through The Fire, Jason Crabb shares the story of his life. We go through the ups and downs of his life from a youngster until now. Who better to tell their story than someone who has been in the fire? I'm glad that Jason did not back down and chose to tell his story honestly and bluntly. It shows how God can mold an ole country boy into one of the greatest gospel singers ever.
Having long been a gospel music fan, the song "Through the Fire" has ministered to me in a very special way through some of the most difficult days I have ever faced but I have held onto Jesus Christ and the promises in His word and He has taken me through the fire time and time again! Jason Crabb is a man after God's own heart and everyone should read his book. It will encourage you, inspire you and challenge you to a closer walk with the Lord!
Pretty awesome read from one of my favorite gospel singers Jason Crabb. This book talks about struggles Jason and his family have faced and how God has seen them "through the fire." I like Jason's perspectives and his sincere desire to reach people for the Lord. Definitely worth reading!
Everyone that knows me knows what a fan I am of his. I had the privilege to sing songs written by him and his Father. I have always admired their work and their faith. Reading this book makes me admire him even more. His journey has only begun but he is going to be great!
