Out of Bounds

Rate this book
Billy Beckett has reached more than a half-million readers.

Harley ‘Ace’ Winters is a professional golfer who has fallen on hard times. He hasn’t won a tournament in years, and a formerly trivial hobby has turned into a dangerous addiction that threatens to bring him to ruin.

Eddie Pickett is a musician on a meteoric rise. But demons from his past hound his footsteps and jeopardize his future.

In the fifth installment of the best-selling Billy Beckett series, Billy has a dark cloud hanging over his head as his father’s dreaded illness has taken a turn for the worse. Despairing but undaunted, the agent’s tenacious nature rears its head. There’s a reason he has garnered a reputation as an agent who is willing to take chances. Sometimes those chances pay off, and sometimes they explode in spectacular fashion.

Though he knows risk is involved, he decides to take on both Ace Winters and Eddie Pickett as clients. As Billy learns more about his new charges, it becomes clear that each man has mysterious secrets that could turn deadly. Billy and his inner circle quickly find themselves tangled in two dangerous webs. Can Billy and his team steer their clients through treacherous waters? Or will the revelations prove a deadly maelstrom capable of leaving death and destruction in its wake?

From the lush greens of Hilton Head to the stark beauty of Red Rocks, Out of Bounds is a riveting novel filled with twists and suspense that will leave you gasping for air.

Kelly Hodge is back with another explosive thriller in the Billy Beckett series. Using the unique angle of a sports and music agent as protagonist, Hodge provides the reader with an interesting approach to an investigative thriller. Hodge has done well with this series, originally a collaborative effort with another author I quite enjoyed reading. Hodge has all the tools for a great series and I can only hope that he will keep things going.

Billy Beckett has had better days. While his successful agent business keeps attracting new clients, his father’s illness has taken a turn for the worse. Beckett is scrambling to make sense of it all, while trying to keep his head in the game. He has two new potential clients, both of whom would be great additions, but they need his attention.

Harley ‘Ace’ Winters is a golfer who has lost his drive, with winning tournaments a thing of the past. Eddie Pickett is a musician who has a bright future ahead as he climbs in the charts. Both men have skeletons in their closets that threaten to drag them down, which forces Beckett to spend more time helping their images than he should.

Beckett thrives to ensure his newest clients are safe and taken care of, but there is no guarantee that it will not come crashing down. As things intensify, there is an ongoing concern that both Ace and Eddie may prove to be too much for the agency, leaving Beckett to choose between his career and their personal livelihoods. The choice is not as easy as it may seem, especially for an agent who thrives on risk. Kelly Hodge pens another winner and leaves readers gasping as they seek answers to many of the issues presented herein.

I have long admired Kelly Hodge for his work on this series, the only books of his that I have read. Hodge has a great way of pulling the reader into the middle of the story with a strong narrative and ever-advancing momentum. Wonderfully crafted characters with backstories of their own provide some lighter aspects to the novel, offsetting the darker storylines that fill much of the content. Key plot developments are, as usual, perfectly fitting within the larger story and offer the reader some chilling realisations throughout the novel’s climactic build. I can only hope Kelly Hodge has more in store for Billy Beckett, as I am sure many fans are eager to see where things are headed.

Kudos, Mr. Hodge, for another wonderful book. You have a great handle on this series and I know Scott Pratt would be proud with the work you’ve done.

gambling and intrigue with golf playing mobsters

This story revolves around a co headed by an agent who habitually takes on clients who have problems. Billy feels he can make all things better. Fortunately he has a very rich friend. He has a cop father, and lost his mother in an accident. Losing his brother to suicide orphaned him. Surrounded by strong women, fbi connections, the story is a page turner. Very enjoyable.

Out of Bounds was a good read. Another book in the Billy Beckett series with the usual cast of characters. Billy the Music and Entertainment Agent takes on two new clients…one a has been golfer and a popular musician. Billy cannot seem to get clients that do not have some sort of story and potential impact on the company. In this case the has been golfer has a gambling problem which finds him trouble. The musician himself is fine, however, there are mysterious issues surrounding him. Billy and the team try to keep the golfer out of trouble and work to save him, while trying to get answers behind the mystery with the musician.

Billy also has unfortunate issues within his own life…between being there for his ailing dad and keeping himself out of trouble that found him through one of his client. This book was well put together and I enjoyed reading it all the way through.

I was a little disappointed for a couple of reasons. First, there were quite a few grammatical/wording errors. And secondly, I felt like something was missing as the issue surrounding the musician came to an end. Overall, I can see giving this book four starts, however, I still gave it five stars because I enjoyed it and well as how it made me feel like I was a part of the Beckett family.

please continue with the Billy Beckett series

I pray 🙏🏿 this not the end of the Billy Beckett series. I would love to read plenty more stories of Billy, Claire, Jackson and Zander. My heart was so broken for Franklin losing his battle and especially for Billy losing his favorite hero and father. Billy now stands alone with no family. I know he miss his dad because his dad was his best friend. I wish the author would humor me, and let Claire and Billy be a couple and stop trying to match her up with others. She’s perfect for Billy and his father wanted them together also. Author Hodge, please write more Billy Beckett books. I’m now your number one fan.

Out of Bounds

I really enjoyed this Billy Beckett story. As he takes on two new clients: one a blue grass musician and a fading golf pro with a hidden gambling problem, things really begin to unravel. The musician has a missing mother and the golfer has more problems than his debts. Billy needs help from his best friend Zander, Claire, his partner, and his Dad who is sadly dying.

Writing this as someone who’s jumped into the middle of a series.. it’s a pretty good novel. The beginning chapter with a woman in trouble, had me expecting a gruesome crime novel only to start the story with a music/sports agent. I kept waiting for the woman to enter the story but then when she did I almost missed her.
Overall I like the characters and wouldn’t mind hearing more about them. I did not find myself super attached to them though.
Overall an enjoyable read!

Billy Beckett and beyond

The fifth installment of the Billy Beckett series brings us closer to who Billy is as a person, a professional, a friend and a son. While we know his dogged person representation of his clients can take him to the edge, we follow Billy as he accompanies his father in his personal journey through the last chapter of his life. A book well worth reading and sharing with a friend.

Spoilers ahead? Loved the serious story

This series has been enjoyable reading. I don't want to spoil anything for others. I would, however, like to point out the discrepancy of Billy's relationship with Holly Grace. In book 3 they barely started dating. In book 4 it was said they had dated for years. He had dated Rachel for years. I was disappointed Ty Nelson wasn't mentioned in book 5.

Intriguing

This book keeps u intrigued from start to finish. The characters are well introduced and extremely believable within the context of their introductions. Not one character is bigger than life. Most of these people are just trying to do a job. Kelly Hodge good job.
This book is entertaining and enjoyable

Good series! The characters who are supposed to be likeable are, the ones who aren't, aren't. I honestly don't think this series gets the attention it should. VERY interesting. It might even make an interesting TV show, depending on how it was cast. But I'd still rather read the books.

Enjoyable series

Each book in the Billy Beckett series builds on the previous stories, yet can stand alone. New characters step into and out of the narrative, introducing twists and interesting side notes. Time well spent!

Billy Beckett book five

An agent who works closely with athletes and entertainers can't seem to avoid murder and mayhem. Makes for intriguing plots and characters in a series that a reader won't want to put down until the last page.
