About the author

Hans de Beer was born in Muiden, a small town near Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. He began to draw when he went to school, mostly when the lessons got too boring. In college, he studied history, but he was drawing so many pictures during the lectures that he decided to become an artist. He went on to study illustration at the Rietveld Academy of Art in Amsterdam. Hans de Beer's Little Polar Bear books enjoy great international success and have been published in eighteen languages in 27 countries.

Bernard missed the cozy winters he had as a cub with his family.
He tried to get other bears on board for staying together in one big cave.
They were against the idea and told him he was lazy on building his own home.
Bernard hated the cold.
A sparrow suggested that he should head south.
He liked this notion of palm trees and beaches.
Bernard got lost on his way.
Then the snow came in full force.
He stumbled across an old pickup truck occupied by three dormice.
The mice relented, allowing Bernard inside for shelter.
Then the real adventure began.
Did they make it to sunny shores or was it all a dream?
A masterful piece crafted for young readers on found friends.

"au-revoir jusqu'au moment où ils se perdirent de vue"

This is a children's book I owned it since I was a kid but never read it(I have other two I'm planning to read next) the art is beautiful and story is adorable and simple but as an adult I understood it in a very different way.
There is something magical bout reading children's books and finding the dark side of da story.
