This is about building a (better) road from the country into town. It's pretty detailed but still approachable.

From Here to There by Nancy Skultety highlights a farmer that puts a request to put a road in to get from the farm to the town. The community comes together to the road in. This book is appropriate for children in Pre-K to first grade. This is a realistic fiction book and children who listen and read this story will be able to learn by asking and working together on a project that anything could happen and work out. The guided reading level is D. This book is very colorful and pleasing to the eyes when reading.

Farmer dibble drives to town one day on a rough road, he decides he wants a new road. The city decides there will be a new road and it shows all the constructions trucks that are involved and the process of building a new road. I am not sure if this would be a good book for story time because it just shows the process.
