Butler's Wager: The Gamblers

Rate this book
Ty Butler came from Eastern wealth—but killers destroyed everyone who shared his name. Seeking a safe haven in the open West, he's found a home among the outlaws, tinhorns, and fugitives who gather at the gaming table. His skill at reading faces and cards has kept Butler in the money—and it's kept him sharp and ready . . . for the assassins who're hunting him down. Working his way to Dodge City, Butler finds the town in an uproar. A new law's in charge here where Bat Masterson carved his legend—old, powerful, and dangerous grudges are about to explode—and Ty Butler's caught right in the middle. When the gunsmoke clears, he'll have friends and enemies in all the wrong places. And to make it out of Dodge alive, he'll need all the aces he can get his hands on.

Robert J Randisi – Gambler Bk 1 – Butler’s Wager – Reviewed 4/9/22 – Read 4/6/22

Ty has been watching his back trail for killers ever since he left the East; when will it end?

Ty Butler’s life had been good, living in the East with a wealthy family until ruthless killers destroyed everyone who shared his name. His father told him to get away and start a new life, and then he was no more. Heading west, looking for a safe place to be, Ty found his life among the outlaws and fugitives who played for the high stakes at the gaming tables. Ty knew the cards, and they knew him, but his knack for reading faces kept him flush with cash and still living in a style from his past. It also kept him looking over his shoulder for ambushers looking for the reward on his head. This reward is not from the law but from his family's killers and the story begins.

Join Ty as he makes his way west, one town at a time, gambling and watching his back trail

What did I like? This book looks to be an exciting beginning to a fascinating series. It will be interesting to read the next chapter in Ty’s travels to the golden land of California if it is anywhere near exciting as this book was.

What will you like? Well, the action could be compared with a burr under a saddle blanket type of excitement. The jumping and twisting equate to the shooting and dealing of the cards. Ty must be careful when he makes his friends as he is always looking over his shoulder for that next shot that will take his life. As his daddy taught him, being a careful man makes for safer traveling. Robert J Randisi brings us an action-packed new Gambler series with “Butler’s Wager,” available NOW!!!

Action packed story

This was a fun book with some familiar names from the old was sprinkled in it. There was a little bit of profanity and quite a bit of poker talk. I am an avid poker player so I enjoyed that aspect. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

You can tell a good story without the f word. The character was good but a little predictable. There wasn’t really any intrigue it was okay
