Asveri

Gianfranco Asveri was born in Piacenza in 1948. Self-taught, he lives isolated in the countryside and is surrounded by fields and his adopted stray dogs, considering painting to be a way of life. In this volume 20 teatrini are presented, a cycle of works that opens the door to his poetic world. Asveri's paintings of miniature theatres look like actual boxes, with real proscenium, backdrops and props, and staged with strange characters that are simultaneously grotesque, proud, clumsy and humorous, with the unfailing presence of cats and dogs.
