In workbook format, readers will discover just what style informs their own writing that distinguishes it from all other writers. One of the key components of writer's voice is the personality of the writing that reveals itself. Just as some people are funny and others are usually serious and smile little, a particular writer's personality (voice) reveals itself. A series of reading examples with questions for the writer is part of the workbook process. Writers will also be asked to assess themselves when it comes to writing, not only what they write but how they write. The discussion material is mainly focused on what constitutes "writer's voice" but also what elements go into determining, over time, how the voice develops and matures.

Ronald L. Donaghe was raised on a farm in southern New Mexico. The setting for many of his novels involves the desert and the mountains of New Mexico. He is a master at evoking the stark beauty and sheer majesty of such settings but also the unforgiving and harsh side.
