Searching desperately for medical aid for their mysteriously ill infant son, David and Kate Meredith find themselves in a twisting, icy mountain road in New Mexico, miles from any help, surrounding by a blinding blizzard that threatens to engulf them at any moment. Suddenly a hunter appears on the road, bow and arrow poised for the kill...
I would probably go two and a half stars. The book starts off interesting then the middle section bogs down and then picks back up again. The book wants you to think it’s about an insane hunter that is hunting down a couple and their infant son. There is a hunter and he’s off his rocker, but there’s no Most Dangerous Game type thrills.
The book deals with a couple, David and Kate, driving in blizzard conditions trying to find medical help for their infant son Brian. They are on vacation and are unfamiliar with the area. They end up getting stranded and are taken in by a hunter named Michael and his wife Rachel. The couple seem a bit off and seem to be hiding something. Meanwhile two strangers are following David and Kate and finally catch up to them at the hunters house. Seems that David and Kate have some secrets themselves concerning their son Brian.
Like I mentioned before the middle section just bogs down. It just seems to be spinning its wheels. Kate comes off as completely helpless and worthless. It’s explained that her character is depressed and suicidal. The book gets a bit darker and twisted by the end. There’s a real sleazy section concerning the sex life of Michael and Rachel where he can only get an erection by piercing Rachel in the chest with an arrow! Plus the reveal of their secret is a real doozy.
