About the author

Galileo S. Zafra is a distinguished Filipino professor, literary scholar, and author. He is currently the director of the University of the Philippines (UP) Press and a professor in the UP Diliman's Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas. Zafra is known for his research on Philippine literary history, particularly the tradition of balagtasan.

Zafra has been a recipient of multiple National Book Awards, both for his writing and in his capacity as a publisher. In 2019, the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino recognized him as a "Language Champion" for his contributions to Filipino language and literature.
