Heads: A Neurosurgeon's Memoir

Rate this book
Heads: A Neurosurgeon's Memoir tells the true story of several rather spectacular years in the life of a world class neurosurgeon. Bernard R. Lerner, M. D. is a talent in full bloom, an iconoclast to the core. Of a liberal generation, he continually rocks the status quo boat as he brings microneurosurgery into the future world of medicine. Believing he was the master of his own universe..until destiny took a mean twisted turn and he is incarcerated with an illegitimate prison sentence. Holding the conviction that he experienced utopia in the strangest place - the joint turns Heads into an inspirational read, addressing many of our social problems, with irrepressibly good humor and good will towards humanity to prove a great man cannot be put down.

Heads meets Mash

I enjoyed this lighthearted romp thru the prison system. It turned out much better than I thought it might, it wasn't silly instead it had a solid message for the rest of us.If this were non-fiction I would have to say---good thing Doc!

Doncha and Bobby are my new remarkable friends.

Her book of his making time in prison meaningful and rich for all whom he came in contact with was inspiring. Dr. Bernard Robert Lerner was so dear and saw so clearly that the way out of hell is to help others. I only wish that there could have been pictures of this family of people.
