As with most guidebooks, this was a good primer, but as it was published two years ago, most of the quoted prices for accommodations and food were out of date. Tack on at least $50 in some cases for the hotels, and $5 to $10 for restaurants.

The descriptions of Hill Country towns and attractions were quite accurate and up-to-date, but I never got a sense of Austin as a city based on the recommendations in the book, which was odd since the author lives there.
