An imaginative story of a scientist who claims to have created a machine that registers life forms of the dead, his decent into a sort of madness and then his successor in the form of a geologist who enters his wife's life. Slightly contrived in places reprinting various documents that re referred to in the text but nontheless an enjoyable read.
