Summer is here, and Lionel has big plans. He makes a long list of things to do, from flying spaceships to building castles. But how will he find time for them all? In three other stories, Lionel stays awake for the Fourth of July fireworks, strikes it rich at his lemonade stand, and survives a family car trip."Children will identify with and laugh with the characters." -- School Library Journal
This book is so funny and easy to read. I enjoyed reading it because it is easily relatable to any one and the kids would benefit y reading something they understand. I would introduce this to a third grade classroom.
Lionel is a character full of fun and mischief, and summer is the ultimate time of excitement and adventure. Lionel makes his summer the best ever, full of carnival fun, fireworks, lemonade stands, and the best part of summer: lounging around, doing nothing. Short chapters that each detail a different adventure, children will love the catalog of Lionel stories this book contains.
A reminder of student’s favorite season, this could be a good introduction to other books about Lionel. This would be a good book for students transitioning from picture books to chapter books.
