As the title says, the book covers the Captain-class Frigates of the Royal Navy during World War 2. The book gives brief histories of each ship and groups that they operated in. This includes commissioning dates, work-up trials and trans Atlantic crossings where they went to different groups and their service in these groups. A good, well researched book about a single class ship, but lacked a bit of detail for me.

My Dad received serious head injuries aboard one of these frigates in WWll, but exactly what happened he never knew, or at least never told me. This book gave me some great information about the activities of all the boats in this class, but most important of all it included a detailed description of exactly what happened to HMS Halstead that fateful night of 12th June 1944. Thank you Mr Collingwood for such a comprehensive study.
