Technikgeschichte (Basistexte - Geschichte, 5)

Rate this book
Hardly anything characterizes our lives as much as technology. This dictum from philosopher Hans Poser is in sharp contrast to the marginal attention that technology has found in traditional historical study. Only a few well-known historians such as Karl Lamprecht and Franz Schnabel serve as exceptions. Others, like Jorn Ruesen and Reinhard Ruerup, refer to the importance of technology for historical development. Additionally, a new discipline was created, first supported by engineers, then also by history of technology. Assembled here are the basic texts that document the evolution of technological history from an engineering to a historical subject and provide an overview of its key issues. German text.
